Getting Ready For Summer
Warmer weather and Vitamin D filled days are just around the corner. For those of you who haven’t caught on – that means swimsuits galore. If you are anything like me, that means you spent the last few months burrowing in sweats with comfort foods around every corner. Need to vamp up your lifestyle? Here’s some changes you can start making right now.
1. Eagle Eye Focus
Good intentions only last so long. Find a routine that helps you stay focused without burning out. You can do this by choosing decisions that are doable long term, you don’t want to force yourself into a corner with no way out but the make all your old mistakes.
2. We Like To Move It, Move It
There is no miracle pill to take that will give you beach bod. It does take work. Sure, some have to work harder than others. But, work none-the-less. If you aren’t ready to head to the gym for 4 days a week then just incorporate little things throughout your day. Working a 9-5 office job? Set your phone to go off every half hour to remind you to take a brisk walk around the office. Park at the back of the parking lot and walk. The little things will add up!
3. Eat Cleaner
Take charge of what you put in your body. Start paying attention to how good you feel after a healthy meal and how crappy you feel after a bad one. Not ready to take the full healthy eating dive? Dip your toes in a little. Switch from cereal to granola and yogurt. Trade in the fried sandwich for a grilled one. Say no to that basket of french fries. The harder you work at it, the more results you will see.
4. If You Can’t Handle the Heat…
Did you know that there are multiple studies that prove meals made at home have an average of 300 less calories per meal? Get some cute kitchen tools and cook away! Busy day? Turn cooking into an activity! Have the little one’s join for a cooking lesson. Or, turn it into date night and learn to cook something romantic.
5. You Are What You Drink
Please, do not drink your calories. Stay away from those horrible sodas, diet or otherwise. Smoothies are good when home made, but you shouldn’t base your whole diet around it. Instead, kick up your intake of water. If anything can be called a miracle, it’s water. We need it to properly function. I won’t go into the long boring details. But, water water water!
